Title: Loving My Body (a): Short Forms and Self Esteem

Focus: Self Esteem; Poetry: Short Forms Haiku, Villanelle, Triolets; Essays, Visual Art; paiting, drawing, clay board art  

Duration:(1 hour p/day for 1-5 Days)

Description: In this workshop we will write poem to and about our body parts and learn presentation techniques for the stage and voice projection. There are 3 different forms (Haiku/Tanka, Villanelle, Triolets) one is covered each day depending on your needs. Ages 10+

Title: Loving My Body (b): Writing and Art

Description:In this workshop we will write stories about our bodies and scars, there are two components (1) creative writing and (2) visual art – drawing, painting, Clay Boarding. There are 3 different forms (Haiku/Tanka, Renga, Triolets) one is covered each day depending on your needs. Age 7+

Title: The Medusa Beautiful: Creative Writing for Young Women

Focus:Female Empowerment, Self Esteem, Essays and Creative Writing for Young Women

Duration:(1 hour p/day for 2-5 Days) optional visual art component

Description:This is motivational workshop design specifically for young women ages (12-18) We begin with an explanation of the Medusa myth and how it has changed over the years in different oral traditions along with feminine archetype in various cultures. The first creative writing exercise “A Woman’s Place” is about a woman role in the home and the community.  Young women perform one of two creative writing exercises on the second day after researching a historic female from their heritage. We discuss women’s roles in the modern politics, media and the work place; and the effects on our self-esteem. We close with motivational poetry and a reading from The Beautiful Medusa.  Ages 12-18

Title: E-Business for Beginners

Focus:Website maintenance, Search Engine Optimization, internet marketing, e-commerce

Duration:(1 hours 1-3 days)

Description:The beginners guide to starting an online business. Weather you are building your site or paying a web master this course will give you the web resources you need to be profitable online. Get the basics of e-business and learn how search engines can boost your sales and take your local business global. Also how make your pages load faster, start an e-shop and submit your site to search engines so that your customer can find you on google, yahoo and other major search engines. Age 18+

Title: Tongue Paint: Writing and Performance for Stage


Focus:Tanka, Renga, Sonnets, Villanelle, Pantoum, multi- voice poems, writing for stage, performance

Duration:Varies min 6 weeks sessions are 1 hour each

Description: A writing and performance course adaptable for all writing levels (ages 13 and over), including performances internationally recognized poets. Equal focus is placed on poetics and art of performance poetry. Students will learn and experiment with traditional poetic forms including Tanka, Renga, Sonnets, Villanelle and multi- voice poems, writing for stage. Poetry is also discussed in the social context and participants will participate in community service as well. The course culminates with a exhibition/ showcase and poetry slam. This course is best suited for school, universities, after-school programs and institutions with a classroom or auditorium setting. Sessions range from forty minutes to an hour and thirty minutes and may be formatted to fit 6 week, 6 month or a full academic school year schedule. Age 13+
